Corporate Policy
Health & Safety Statement
Consolidated has a fully documented Health and Safety Policy supplied by a qualified health and safety representative. A copy of this policy is available on request.
An inspection is undertaken of clients’ site prior to work being undertaken. A full risk assessment is carried out to establish a safe working environment.
Overview
It is the policy of Consolidated that its operations are carried out at all times in such a way as to ensure, so far as it is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all its employees and all persons likely to be affected by its operations including sub-contractors and, where appropriate, the public.
This policy is the direct responsibility of Mr. G Coleman, Company Safety Officer who is charged with its overall implementation. Mr. G Coleman is responsible for all safety matters in Consolidated and is Chairman of the Safety Committee. The Safety Committee is responsible for implementing and ensuring that the Policy is applied throughout all Company operations. It prepares monthly and quarterly reports concerning all accidents and compiles figures to indicate the safety performance of each large contract.
The Consolidated Safety Committee meets at three monthly intervals. The Committee reviews all reportable accidents for the previous three months together with statistical information prepared by the Company Safety Officer. The Committee has power to call for special reports, make investigations and can impose penalties on sites if standards of safety, health and welfare are considered to be unsatisfactory.
The Company Safety Officer is conversant with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regs 1999. It is his duty to advise management on all safety matters and to visit all contracts and other places of work as frequently as possible. He will carry out site inspections at the time of each visit and report his findings on the Inspection Report Forms. A copy of each report is left with site management, a copy is sent to the Managing Director and a further copy goes to the Company Safety Committee so that suitable actions are taken by all concerned.
The Company Safety Officer undertakes all arrangements for the instruction of all levels of staff as may be appropriate to ensure proper observance of the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regs 1999, in so far as they concern the construction industry.
At each contract site or other place of work a member of Consolidated site staff (Site Supervisor) is responsible for the day-to-day arrangements for safe working and for the application and success of the safety policy on his contract.
Security Policy
Consolidated are aware of the importance of information and data security and therefore have a comprehensive policy to safeguard the information needed to run the business successfully and ensure we comply with relevant legislation.
On Site Security
All our personnel on site are equipped with photographic ID cards and are issued with the company uniform. Details of names of personnel on site and registration numbers of vehicles to be used are provided in advance so the necessary security arrangements may be made. All members of staff are vetted and some already have been through extensive security checked with clients such as Ministry of Defence, Metropolitan police and Morgan Stanley.
Data and Information Systems
Access to any important information is made available only to the personnel who need the information for their work. Passwords are activated to stop unauthorised use of the system. Suitable anti-virus software and firewalls are in place to protect the network. The system is supported by the Installation of uninterruptible power supply, with battery back up with the responsibility for backing–up given to one member of staff, designating a second to cover for absence. Different disks are used to back-up each day of the week with a schedule for rotating the disks. All back-ups are secured in a fire-proof safe. Users of laptops are instructed to activate password protect and regularly back up information to keep them secure
Premises Security
The premises are protected with alarm systems linked to central station alongside keypad security doors to prevent unauthorised entry into the premises and security gated. This is augmented with CCTV 24 hour disk recording and fire prevention inspections carried out regularly.
Environmental Policy
Consolidated will seek practical means of characterising, quantifying and monitoring all aspects of its impact on the environment. Such impacts include emissions to air, discharges to water, disposal of solid and other wastes, use of land, water, fuels, energy and other natural resources, and discharges of thermal energy, noise, odour, dust, vibration and visual impact. Consolidated will strive to ensure that it meets all legal and other regulatory requirements and codes of practice, including relevant consents, permits and authorisations from regulators and local authority.
The company will seek to minimise its emissions to the environment, including solid waste, air emissions and liquid effluent. We will explore with local agencies the least environmentally harmful method of disposing of specific categories of waste, and encourage re-cycling and re-use wherever sensible.
Consolidated will continue to exert downward pressure on the consumption of energy and other natural resources, and will explore the most effective ways of doing this. We will seek to ensure that its procurement policies take account of its environmental policy, and seek statements and records of environmental performance from its suppliers of goods and services. We will also encourage suppliers to avoid unnecessary packaging wherever possible and will continue to monitor safety performance in all areas in order to reduce environmental risks.
We will continue to work with the local government and other agencies to help reduce the environmental impact of the vehicular transport its activities generate. It will also encourage the use of public transport wherever possible. Our office manager will maintain our buildings and grounds in a manner that avoids adverse environmental impact and, wherever possible, enhances the natural environment and encourages bio-diversity.
Consolidated accepts, as part of its wider mission, the need 'to instil in people of all ages, through formal and informal education and training, the concepts of sustainable development and responsible global citizenship; and to develop, renew and reinforce their capacity to address environmental and development issues throughout their lives, both at home and at work'. Consolidated undertakes to work with other organisations to encourage the wider acceptance of the need for education in areas of environmental concern.
Consolidated will strive towards continuous improvement in its environmental performance.
